Solid cloud cover today, with an easy breeze from the SE and pressure sitting still. Whatever swims in Hull Lake should be near reed fringes and open pockets. The best of it runs the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Hull Lake sits in Alexander, out in Manitoba. It sits in pine and birch. It runs to roughly 42 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. With 5.6 km or so of shoreline, boat anglers cover ground the bank cannot. Lac du Bonnet lies 47 km from the water. Beausejour follows at 83 km, then Kenora at 86 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Species logged across Alexander include smallmouth bass, northern pike and walleye. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. Treat Hull Lake as a water to read rather than to cover.
The year swings from about -19°C in January to roughly 19°C in July. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near late April. From about late April to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Plan any trip to Hull Lake around it.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. If the gate is shut, Aubin Lake at 1.3 km is the nearest alternative. Ask locally about Hull Lake if anything is unclear.
