Uneven cloud over the water after dark, with a light chop building from the WNW and the barometer holding steady. Give bays that hold the day's warmth the first hour at Good Lake. A long productive spell runs the day. Make the first hour count and build on it. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Good Lake falls in Alexander, part of Manitoba. The ground round it is rolling bush. About 1.03 sq km, so local knowledge or a boat saves a lot of walking. At about 8.0 km of edge, most people work one arm at a time. You are 43 km from Lac du Bonnet. For a city, Winnipeg is 129 km off. Water in the same corner: Yuffe Lake some 1.3 km off, Wasp Lake near enough 1.7 km, Fernstrom Lake some 2.8 km off, Jamieson Lake near enough 2.9 km and Burton Lake some 3.1 km off. No border sits close enough to matter.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Open biodiversity records for Alexander list smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleye and yellow perch. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. On Good Lake a short move beats a long cast.
Averages move between -19°C in January and 19°C in July. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. After late April the shallows warm and the fish move up. From about late April to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Good Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Yuffe Lake, 1.3 km away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Good Lake in what we hold.
