A still, cloudless night on the water, with a whisper of wind from the NE with the barometer flat. Give the calm side of the wind the first hour at Wolf Lake. The best of it runs night into morning. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Wolf Lake is listed under Fraser Valley Regional District, British Columbia. The country here is rolling hill. Surface area runs to about 2 hectares — small enough to read in one session. On size it sits at the modest end of our Fraser Valley Regional District list. Harrison Hot Springs at 6.2 km is the nearest place to stop. Agassiz is 12 km and Popkum 16 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Fraser Valley Regional District records list white sturgeon, sockeye salmon, Coho salmon, Chum salmon and Chinook salmon among the fish reported. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. The shape of Wolf Lake decides where the fish sit.
Expect August to average close to 18°C, with January the cold end at about 1°C. Most months fish reasonably, given the right weather. In a normal year the cover is thin and short-lived. February into May fishes hardest as the water warms. It sets the rhythm of the year at Wolf Lake.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. Grace Lake Staging Area holds the nearest mapped parking, 450 m out. There is a jetty 80 m off, worth knowing on a busy day. There is camping recorded roughly 110 m off. Mapping shows a picnic spot within 1.5 km. A toilet block sits 140 m away. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. For a change of water, Grace Lake is 0.6 km distant. Check the position on Wolf Lake before loading the car.
