Sunshine start to finish today, with light air out of the SSE with a settled glass. On Willard Lake, work the margins and the shelf beyond them first. The forecast backs the stretch from afternoon into evening. Ride the conditions while they last. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Willard Lake falls in Thompson-Nicola Regional District, part of British Columbia. Rolling bush runs right down to the water. At about 19 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Shoreline comes to about 2.2 km, small enough to learn in a day. Ashcroft lies 4.8 km from the water. Kamloops sits 66 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Records held for Thompson-Nicola Regional District cover Chinook salmon, sockeye salmon, Coho salmon, rainbow trout and pink salmon. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Treat Willard Lake as a water to read rather than to cover.
Expect July to average close to 18°C, with January the cold end at about -6°C. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. Winter locks it down, and late March brings it back. Open water usually runs from late March until about late November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Expect Willard Lake to follow that timing.
Public data does not answer the access question here. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Barnes Lake, 1.8 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Ask locally about Willard Lake if anything is unclear.
