A still, cloudless night on the water, with almost no wind to speak of and no real change in pressure. Fish at Ten Mile Lake should hold close to structure within a cast of the bank. If you pick one session, make it the middle of the day. Keep moving until you find them. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Ten Mile Lake is a Stikine Region water, in British Columbia. Elevation runs to 607 metres. The water covers around 1.16 sq km, which puts most of it out of reach from the bank. The margin runs to about 7.7 km in total. For a base, Watson Lake sits 22 km out. Kamloops is the closest city, 1149 km away. More in the same country: 3.8 km away is Jim Lake, Clem Lake some 5.2 km off, 5.8 km away is Dan Lake, Stone Lake some 7.6 km off and 8 km away is Ken Lake. No border sits close enough to matter.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Across Stikine Region, recorded fish include Chinook salmon, sockeye salmon and Coho salmon. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Ten Mile Lake responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Climate records put July near 15°C and January near -23°C. The ice season is long here and the open one short. Once it clears, about early May, the fishing comes on quickly. Average temperatures cross freezing around early May in spring and again near early November in autumn. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. On Ten Mile Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Should this one be busy, Jim Lake is 3.8 km off. Check the current arrangement for Ten Mile Lake.
