A windy day on the water, with a light SW breeze with a settled glass. Start the search at Teepee Lake along windblown banks where food collects. A tough forecast; the evening offers the only real chance. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Teepee Lake belongs to Peace River Regional District, British Columbia. Beyond the shoreline you have pine and birch. Surface area is around 28 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. Bank access stretches around 2.4 km in total. For supplies, Beaverlodge is 44 km out. Beyond it, Dawson Creek at 46 km and Tumbler Ridge at 63 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Records held for Peace River Regional District cover mountain whitefish, longnose sucker, largescale sucker and Arctic grayling. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. At Teepee Lake the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Average temperature peaks around 14°C in July and bottoms out near -12°C in January. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around late April. On the long-run averages the water opens up around late April and starts locking again about mid November. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Teepee Lake.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. The nearest alternative is Murray Lake, 1.5 km out. Where Teepee Lake is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
