Mist hanging over the margins today, with mild air moving in from the N and steady pressure. Activity on Swan Lake should centre on windblown banks where food collects. The best of it runs the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Bundle up; the fishing will be slow but not impossible.

Swan Lake sits in Peace River Regional District, out in British Columbia. This is lake country bush country. It measures about 10 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The whole outline is near 1.4 km, and most of it is walkable. On size it sits at the modest end of our Peace River Regional District list. The closest town, Fort Nelson, is 127 km away. The nearest city of size is Edmonton, 751 km away. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Reported across Peace River Regional District: mountain whitefish, longnose sucker, largescale sucker, Arctic grayling and bull trout. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Swan Lake repays a walk before the first cast.
Long-term averages put July at about 14°C and January near -15°C. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about early November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. That is the shape of the year on Swan Lake.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Drymeat Lake at 16 km is the sensible second choice. Nothing on Swan Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
