Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with an easy breeze from the NW and no real change in pressure. Give the weed line and any gaps in it the first hour at Summit Lake. Plan around the stretch from the day. Keep moving until you find them. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Summit Lake is a Regional District of Central Okanagan water, British Columbia side. It lies 1,249 metres above sea level. About 4 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. Supplies mean a trip to Rutland, 22 km off. Further out sit Ellison (24 km) and Okanagan Mission (24 km). It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Survey and observation records for Regional District of Central Okanagan include sockeye salmon, rainbow trout and common carp. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. The shape of Summit Lake decides where the fish sit.
Climate normals give 14°C for August and -8°C for January. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. Count the season from break-up, usually mid April. Ice clears near mid April and comes back about mid November in a typical year. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. That shapes the year on Summit Lake.
Access status is simply unknown for this water. A jetty or pier is mapped about 1.1 km from here. Overnight stays are possible 780 m away. There are picnic tables 160 m away. Toilets are 670 m away, which matters on a long session. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. The nearest alternative is Minnow Lake, 1.2 km out. For Summit Lake in particular, ask before you travel.
