A wet system passing over today, with a decent SW wind working the banks with a settled glass. Whatever swims in Prospect Lake should be near sheltered bays and points. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the evening. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

This water sits in Capital Regional District, British Columbia. Beyond the shoreline you have farm and woodlot. With some 69 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. With about 4.8 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. On our Capital Regional District list it sits near the top for size. Rural Saanich is the closest place, 2 km off. Royal Oak follows at 5.4 km, then Cordova Bay at 5.5 km. A county boundary sits nearby, which can matter for local access rules.
We hold no depth figure for this one. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Public occurrence data for Capital Regional District names Chinook salmon, Coho salmon, Chum salmon and rainbow trout. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Prospect Lake fishes better once you know its edges.
The range across the year is 4°C to 17°C. Spring and autumn are the strongest, but nothing is truly closed. In a normal year the cover is thin and short-lived. Late winter often fishes better here than midsummer does. Prospect Lake fishes to that pattern most years. Fish feed harder before a change in weather than after it.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. You will be walking about 810 m from the nearest car park. A jetty or pier is mapped about 700 m from here. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Failing this one, try Eagles Lake, 1.7 km away. None of that is settled for Prospect Lake in what we hold.
