Clear air and long views across the water tonight, with a consistent blow out of the SSW and pressure going nowhere. The productive water at Pressy Lake will be around reed fringes and open pockets. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the morning. Fish the best hour hard and keep the rest short.

The Thompson-Nicola Regional District end of British Columbia holds Pressy Lake. The surface lies 1,026 metres up. With some 43 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The margin runs to about 8.1 km in total. The nearest place of any size is 100 Mile House, 35 km away. The big place round here is Kamloops, 93 km distant. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. County-wide records name Chinook salmon, sockeye salmon and Coho salmon. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Fish Pressy Lake to its features, not to its size.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 15°C, while January sits near -8°C. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Winter locks it down, and mid April brings it back. The season between ice runs from about mid April to mid November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. It sets the rhythm of the year at Pressy Lake.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. A jetty or pier is mapped about 190 m from here. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Jim Lake, 6 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the position at Pressy Lake before loading the car.
