A rainy spell sitting over the area, with a useful WSW wind pushing food about with the barometer flat. Activity on Power Lake should centre on any hard bottom among the soft. A grinding day likely, with the night worth the effort if any is. Save the long walk for a better forecast. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Across Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen, recorded fish include sockeye salmon, rainbow trout, Coho salmon and common carp. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. At Power Lake the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Expect August to average close to 14°C, with December the cold end at about -7°C. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from mid April. Ice clears near mid April and comes back about mid November in a typical year. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. It sets the rhythm of the year at Power Lake.
The paperwork position is blank for this one. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Gill Lake sits 0.9 km off and takes the overflow. Rules at Power Lake are worth checking on the day.
