An even grey lid over the water, with the surface near flat and the barometer holding steady. The fish at Pinnacle Lake are likely to sit near the calm side of the wind. Little to get excited about, though the middle of the day holds a sliver of promise. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water.

British Columbia holds Pinnacle Lake, in Thompson-Nicola Regional District. This is pine and birch ground. Small at around 9 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. Compared with other British Columbia water on our list, it sits high. Glenrosa lies 31 km from the water. Peachland is 32 km away, with Smith Creek at 34 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. County-wide records name Chinook salmon, sockeye salmon and Coho salmon. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Treat Pinnacle Lake as a water to read rather than to cover.
August runs about 13°C on average, December about -8°C. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from late April. On average, late April opens the water and mid November closes it again. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. On Pinnacle Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. Mapping shows a campsite some 290 m from the water. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Failing this one, try Hatheume Lake, 1.8 km away. For Pinnacle Lake in particular, ask before you travel.
