Hard light and clear air over the water, with a gentle ripple from the NNW and pressure sitting still. The fish at Myles Lake are likely to sit near the shallows early and the drop later. Nothing special in any period, but nothing dead either. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Myles Lake is one of the Regional District of Nanaimo listings for British Columbia. Around the bank it is dry hill. This is a pocket water of some 2 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. On size it sits at the modest end of our Regional District of Nanaimo list. Start from Chase River, 5.6 km down the road. Harewood follows at 6.6 km, then South End at 7.2 km. Two sets of local rules meet not far from this water.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Fish documented in Regional District of Nanaimo include rainbow trout, Coho salmon, Chum salmon and Chinook salmon. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Myles Lake responds to conditions more than to tactics.
In an average year August sits at 17°C and January at 3°C. Fish stay active all year, but they move with the heat. October and November give a second good stretch as it cools. The hot months push the fishing to dawn and dusk. On Myles Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
The access position is unclear from public sources. A jetty or pier is mapped about 940 m from here. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. The nearest alternative is Harewood Lake, 0.9 km out. Confirm access to Myles Lake locally before you travel.
