Mist hanging over the margins today, with a light SSW breeze and pressure sitting still. The water to cover at Mosquito Lake is the calm side of the wind. Little to get excited about, though the morning holds a sliver of promise. Fish the best hour hard and keep the rest short. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

British Columbia holds Mosquito Lake, in Squamish-Lillooet Regional District. It lies 442 metres above sea level. At 5 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. It is a small entry by Squamish-Lillooet Regional District standards. The nearest place of any size is Mount Currie, 3.1 km away. For a city, Coquitlam is 117 km off. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. County-wide records name Coho salmon, sockeye salmon and rainbow trout. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Treat Mosquito Lake as a water to read rather than to cover.
August is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 16°C, while January sits near -4°C. Hard water is a season in its own right here. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near late March. Expect the water usable from around late March until roughly early December. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Expect Mosquito Lake to follow that timing.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. Parking is mapped about 280 m from the bank. A pier or jetty stands 120 m away, which helps on a crowded bank. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Ivey Lake at 0.8 km is the sensible second choice. Confirm access to Mosquito Lake locally before you travel.
