Overcast skies today, with a light WSW breeze and pressure going nowhere. Whatever swims in Mirror Lake should be near the weed line and any gaps in it. Not a day the forecast likes; the night keeps a flicker of interest. Lower the pace and stay patient. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Mirror Lake stands in Regional District of North Okanagan, British Columbia. Country round the bank runs to pine and birch. Surface area is around 16 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. About 1.9 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. By elevation it is in the upper part of our British Columbia listings. You are 35 km from Big Eddy. Kelowna sits 120 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Regional District of North Okanagan records list Coho salmon, sockeye salmon, Chinook salmon and rainbow trout among the fish reported. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Mirror Lake responds to conditions more than to tactics.
The warm month here averages 13°C; the cold one sits at -8°C. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Look for the thaw near late April; the fishing lifts straight after. The open-water window runs from around late April to about mid November in an average year. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. Mirror Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Failing this one, try Arnica Lake, 5.1 km away. None of that is settled for Mirror Lake in what we hold.
