Stars out and no cloud tonight, with almost no wind to speak of with the glass holding level. The fish at Marion Lake are likely to sit near any hard bottom among the soft. An ordinary day throughout, patience over timing. Change depth before you change anything else. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Squamish-Lillooet Regional District in British Columbia is where Marion Lake sits. It stands 480 metres above sea level. This is a pocket water of some 6 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Supplies mean a trip to Lions Bay, 12 km off. Further out sit Squamish (16 km) and Horseshoe Bay (21 km). The line between counties passes nearby, which can change who manages the water.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Across Squamish-Lillooet Regional District, recorded fish include Coho salmon, sockeye salmon, rainbow trout, Chinook salmon and Chum salmon. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. On Marion Lake the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Averages here run 14°C at the top of summer and -1°C at the bottom of winter. The swings are modest, so patterns change slowly. It is not guaranteed from one year to the next. March through May is the strongest run, with October and November a second stretch. That shapes the year on Marion Lake.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. If the gate is shut, Phyllis Lake at 0.9 km is the nearest alternative. Check the current arrangement for Marion Lake.
