Rain colouring the margins today, with a light ENE breeze with a settled glass. Start the search at Lower Lake along shallow cover and weed edges. If you pick one session, make it the middle of the day. Keep moving until you find them. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Look for Lower Lake in the North Coast Regional District part of British Columbia. Elevation runs to 13 metres. The water covers some 93 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. You are looking at roughly 6.5 km of shoreline, with plenty of water between access points. It lies lower than most water we list in British Columbia. Head to Kitimat, 81 km away, for anything you forgot. It is 632 km to Vancouver, the nearest city. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Work the tide here — moving water feeds, slack water rests. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Survey and observation records for North Coast Regional District include Pacific cod, walleye pollock and pink salmon. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Work Lower Lake in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Typical August readings run about 15°C; by January the average is down near 0°C. A lid forms in a hard winter only. It should never be assumed safe, whatever the month says. March through May is the strongest run, with October and November a second stretch. Lower Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
Public data does not answer the access question here. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Failing this one, try Gamble Lake, 11 km away. Rules at Lower Lake are worth checking on the day.
