Full sun on the water today, with a faint NNE drift and pressure sitting still. Expect most activity at Laxton Lake around inflow corners and shaded margins. Plan around the stretch from morning through afternoon. Keep moving until you find them. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Laxton Lake is one of the Fraser Valley Regional District listings for British Columbia. Around the bank it is dry hill. About 1.7 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our British Columbia listings. Some 4 km away sits South Clearbrook, the nearest settlement. Further out sit Marshall-McCallum (4.9 km) and UDistrict (4.9 km). Rules can differ a short way off, since the county line is near.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Across Fraser Valley Regional District, recorded fish include white sturgeon, sockeye salmon and Coho salmon. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. At Laxton Lake the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
August is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 18°C, while January sits near 2°C. No part of the year shuts this water. Shade and hour of day matter more than month. Autumn steadies things again once the heat lets go. On Laxton Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Parking sits 800 m out, which makes for a walk with tackle. A jetty or pier is mapped about 270 m from here. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. For a change of water, Judson Lake is 1 km distant. For Laxton Lake in particular, ask before you travel.
