Overcast skies today, with calm air over the water and pressure sitting still. The productive water at Lawrence Lake will be around the first drop-off and weed lines. A broad window opens from morning through afternoon. Commit to the pattern once the first fish shows. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

In British Columbia, Lawrence Lake belongs to Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako. The setting is mixed forest. About 8 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. Our Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako list holds plenty of bigger water. The nearest place of any size is Vanderhoof, 62 km away. Burns Lake is 80 km away, with Fort St. James at 88 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Records held for Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako cover sockeye salmon, Coho salmon, Chinook salmon and pink salmon. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Lawrence Lake responds to conditions more than to tactics.
On the long-term average, July reads 14°C and January reads -11°C. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. Ice-out usually falls in mid April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Break-up near mid April, freeze-up near mid November: that is the shape of an average year. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. It holds true on Lawrence Lake more years than not.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Muskrat Lake, 1.5 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the position at Lawrence Lake before loading the car.
