A still, cloudless night on the water, with stillness over the whole water with the barometer flat. Expect most activity at Lambert Lake around the shallows early and the drop later. The productive run goes the day. Start on the obvious water and expand from there. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Look for Lambert Lake in the Powell River Regional District part of British Columbia. It sits 2.3 km in from the sea. Small at around 6 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. On size it sits at the modest end of our Powell River Regional District list. French Creek is the closest place, 17 km off. Further out sit Parksville (19 km) and Qualicum Beach (20 km). The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Survey and observation records for Powell River Regional District include sockeye salmon, Coho salmon, rainbow trout and Chum salmon. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Lambert Lake responds to conditions more than to tactics.
The year swings from about 4°C in January to roughly 17°C in August. Heat sets the pattern from late spring onward. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer squeezes it into the edges of the day. April and May are the settled weeks, with October close behind. The season on Lambert Lake rarely departs from it.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. A carry of 930 m from the nearest parking is the price of fishing here. A platform or pier sits within 670 m. Somewhere to sit and eat is 970 m out. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Ogden Lake at 0.9 km is the sensible second choice. For Lambert Lake, the notice at the access point is the final word.
