Fresh rain topping the water up today, with a proper ripple driven from the SW and no real change in pressure. Most of the action on Kitasoo Lake should come off the first drop-off and weed lines. A hard day on paper; the morning edges the rest. Go lighter and slower than usual. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Kitasoo Lake is a Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine water, British Columbia side. The ground round it is open valley. It measures about 45 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. About 3.6 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. Ground here is low by British Columbia standards. Start from Bella Bella, 53 km down the road. Bella Coola lies 123 km off, Kitimat another 164 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Our records hold no depth for this water. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Across Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine, recorded fish include pink salmon, Chum salmon, Coho salmon and sockeye salmon. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Read Kitasoo Lake before you fish it and the day goes better.
Averages move between 2°C in January and 14°C in August. Seasons here are moderate, and the fishing runs most of the year. Some winters give nothing at all, so plan for open water. February into May fishes hardest as the water warms. On Kitasoo Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. The closest car park is 1.5 km away, so pack accordingly. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Baron Lake, 5.3 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Signs at Kitasoo Lake carry more weight than any list.
