A clear night sky over the water, with a gentle ripple from the ENE and no real change in pressure. On Ikzatqu Lake, work sheltered bays and points first. Save your energy for the evening. Change depth before you change anything else. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Ikzatqu Lake lies in Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine, in British Columbia. What surrounds it is mixed woodland. It covers about 7 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. It is a small entry by Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine standards. Start from Terrace, 110 km down the road. Prince Rupert is 111 km away, with Metlakatla at 117 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Reported across Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine: pink salmon, Chum salmon and Coho salmon. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Read Ikzatqu Lake for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Climate records put August near 13°C and January near -3°C. Most months fish reasonably, given the right weather. Cover comes and goes, so treat it with suspicion rather than trust. April and May are the settled weeks, with October close behind. Plan around that when you fish Ikzatqu Lake.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. The nearest alternative is Bessie Lake, 17 km out. For Ikzatqu Lake in particular, ask before you travel.
