Steady rain over the water today, with a busy WSW wind on the open water and the barometer holding steady. Fish at Hall Lake should hold close to structure within a cast of the bank. Quiet conditions all day, with the night marginally better. Save the long walk for a better forecast.

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen end of British Columbia holds Hall Lake. The land about it is mixed forest. The whole thing is a single swim; walk it in a minute. It is a small entry by Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen standards. For supplies, Princeton is 34 km out. After that come Merritt at 43 km and Hope at 66 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Records held for Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen cover sockeye salmon, rainbow trout, Coho salmon and common carp. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. At Hall Lake the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Averages move between -6°C in December and 15°C in August. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early April. The open-water window runs from around early April to about late November in an average year. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Plan around that when you fish Hall Lake.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. There is camping recorded roughly 1.1 km off. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. For a change of water, Harvey Hall Lake is 0.9 km distant. Nothing on Hall Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
