A clear night sky over the water, with a mirror surface most of the day and steady pressure. The productive water at Ghost Lake will be around reed fringes and open pockets. The best of it runs the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Ghost Lake belongs to Cariboo Regional District, British Columbia. Height above sea level is 1,002 metres. At 3.28 sq km this is proper open water rather than a pond. There is roughly 15 km of bank, more than one visit can cover properly. It ranks high for size among our Cariboo Regional District listings. Valemount is the closest town at 108 km. Quesnel is 110 km away, with Williams Lake at 124 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Species logged across Cariboo Regional District include sockeye salmon, Chinook salmon, bull trout, Coho salmon and longnose sucker. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. The shape of Ghost Lake rewards a slow walk along one bank.
Climate records put July near 12°C and January near -9°C. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early May. From about early May to around early November, expect open water on the long-run figures. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Ghost Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
The access position is unclear from public sources. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Should this one be busy, Lanezi Lake is 14 km off. Confirm before you fish Ghost Lake.
