Clear air and long views across the water tonight, with a whisper of wind from the S with the glass holding level. Gaspard Lake should fish best around the calm side of the wind today. The best of it runs night into morning. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. The cold will pin fish to deeper, stable water.

Gaspard Lake is a Cariboo Regional District water, British Columbia side. Elevation runs to 1,371 metres. At 1.29 sq km this is proper open water rather than a pond. The perimeter runs near 10 km, so plan the walk before you start. Nearest town is Hanceville, 54 km off. For a city, Kamloops is 193 km off. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Open biodiversity records for Cariboo Regional District list sockeye salmon, Chinook salmon and bull trout. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. At Gaspard Lake the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
August is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 12°C, while January sits near -9°C. Hard water is a season in its own right here. Look for the thaw near late April; the fishing lifts straight after. Climate figures give an open season running late April to mid November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. At Gaspard Lake the season follows that pattern closely.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Stobie Lake, 8.8 km away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Gaspard Lake in what we hold.
