A still, cloudless night on the water, with a persistent wind from the WNW and pressure sitting still. On Enos Lake, work structure within a cast of the bank first. The day runs flat but workable from start to finish. Take the steady approach over the searching one. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Set in Regional District of Nanaimo, Enos Lake is a British Columbia water. Height above sea level is 51 metres. Roughly 17 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. There is roughly 3.0 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our British Columbia listings. Fairwinds sits 2.1 km from the bank. Beyond it, Nanoose Bay at 2.9 km and Lantzville at 7 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Public occurrence data for Regional District of Nanaimo names rainbow trout, Coho salmon and Chum salmon. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. On Enos Lake the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Average temperature peaks around 17°C in August and bottoms out near 4°C in January. Warm months push fish deep; cool months bring them back. October and November give a second good stretch as it cools. March through May is the strongest run, with October and November a second stretch. Expect Enos Lake to follow that timing.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Parking is mapped about 570 m from the bank. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Failing this one, try Kidney Lake, 8.7 km away. Check the position on Enos Lake before loading the car.
