Cloud coming and going through the night, with hardly a ripple anywhere and pressure going nowhere. Fish at Elephant Lake should hold close to sheltered bays and points. Expect the better fishing from the day. Give the likely spots time before moving. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

British Columbia holds Elephant Lake, in Powell River Regional District. Salt water lies 5.2 km off. Surface area is around 13 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. A shoreline of some 2.2 km keeps the choices simple. The nearest town is Powell River, 24 km away. The nearest city of size is Vancouver, 100 km away. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Reported across Powell River Regional District: sockeye salmon, Coho salmon and rainbow trout. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. At Elephant Lake light and wind decide more than tackle does.
August runs about 16°C on average, January about 2°C. Mild ends to the year keep the season long. Some winters give nothing at all, so plan for open water. February into May fishes hardest as the water warms. Elephant Lake runs to its own calendar within the local pattern. Cloud cover is worth more than temperature on a bright week.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. A campsite is mapped about 920 m away, which makes an early start easier. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Brooks Lake at 2.7 km is the sensible second choice. None of that is settled for Elephant Lake in what we hold.
