Clear overhead with good moonlight, with a working WNW breeze with the barometer flat. Fish at Eden Lake should hold close to points where shallow meets deep. Save your energy for the evening. Work the productive water thoroughly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Look for Eden Lake in Regional District of Mount Waddington, British Columbia. Around the bank it is farm and woodlot. The water covers some 15 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. With about 2.5 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Regional District of Mount Waddington. You are 34 km from Port McNeill. Port Hardy follows at 57 km, then Gold River at 117 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Reported across Regional District of Mount Waddington: Coho salmon, rainbow trout and Chinook salmon. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. The shape of Eden Lake decides where the fish sit.
The warm month here averages 15°C; the cold one sits at 3°C. The year gives four workable seasons without severe ends. Hard water here is never dependable, so check for yourself before stepping out. March through May is the strongest run, with October and November a second stretch. Plan any trip to Eden Lake around it.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Broughton Archipelago Conservancy covers this ground, which means extra rules to check. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. If the gate is shut, Broughton Lake at 9.1 km is the nearest alternative.
