Overcast skies today, with enough W wind to stack food downwind and steady pressure. Fish at Dobbin Lake should hold close to structure within a cast of the bank. A tough forecast; the night offers the only real chance. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Dobbin Lake is one of the Regional District of Central Okanagan waters in British Columbia. Height above sea level is 1,485 metres. Roughly 16 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. Bank access stretches around 1.5 km in total. Compared with other British Columbia water on our list, it sits high. Nearest place of any size is Glenrosa, 19 km away. Kelowna is the closest city, 27 km away. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Species logged across Regional District of Central Okanagan include sockeye salmon, rainbow trout and common carp. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Dobbin Lake fishes better once you know its edges.
Temperature averages peak at 14°C in August and bottom out at -8°C in January. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. After late April the shallows warm and the fish move up. On average, late April opens the water and mid November closes it again. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Dobbin Lake runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Public data does not answer the access question here. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. West Lake sits 0.6 km off and takes the overflow. Check the position on Dobbin Lake before loading the car.
