A grey, even sky over the water, with calm air over the water and pressure sitting still. Most of the action on Clink Lake should come off structure within a cast of the bank. Little to get excited about, though the middle of the day holds a sliver of promise. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water.

Clink Lake is a Thompson-Nicola Regional District water, in British Columbia. The bank is 1,111 metres above sea level. It runs to roughly 23 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. The edge runs 3.6 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. The nearest town is 100 Mile House, 46 km away. Further out sit 108 Mile Ranch (47 km) and Williams Lake (79 km). It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Thompson-Nicola Regional District records list Chinook salmon, sockeye salmon, Coho salmon, rainbow trout and pink salmon among the fish reported. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Clink Lake repays a walk before the first cast.
Long-term averages put August at about 14°C and January near -8°C. Winter shuts things down for a spell, then spring reopens them fast. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around mid April. The lid tends to go about mid April and return around mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. That is the shape of the year on Clink Lake.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Ridge Lake, 3.5 km away, makes the obvious fallback. What applies at Clink Lake may have changed since it was mapped.
