Fresh rain topping the water up today, with a useful NW wind pushing food about with a settled glass. The productive water at Clear Lake will be around bays that hold the day's warmth. A hard day on paper; the morning edges the rest. Go lighter and slower than usual. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Clear Lake is a Regional District of Fraser-Fort George water, in British Columbia. Beyond the shoreline you have mixed forest. It runs to roughly 11 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. About 1.4 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. Most waters listed here for Regional District of Fraser-Fort George are larger. Nearest place of any size is Prince George, 33 km away. Kamloops is the closest city, 381 km away. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. County-wide records name Chinook salmon, sockeye salmon, mountain whitefish, rainbow trout and Arctic grayling. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Clear Lake repays a walk before the first cast.
Expect July near 14°C and January near -10°C on the long-run figures. Cold locks it up for a good stretch each year. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from mid April. Open water usually runs from mid April until about mid November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Clear Lake.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. You can camp about 180 m away, going by the mapping. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Hutda Lake at 3.1 km is the sensible second choice. Nothing here settles the position at Clear Lake for certain.
