Not a cloud worth mentioning today, with a helpful ripple pushed from the SSE with the glass holding level. The fish at Calder Lake are likely to sit near structure within a cast of the bank. The useful hours run the day. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Look for Calder Lake in the Thompson-Nicola Regional District part of British Columbia. The setting is rolling bush. At roughly 8 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. Cache Creek at 37 km is the nearest place to stop. Beyond it, Ashcroft at 41 km and Westsyde at 46 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Thompson-Nicola Regional District records list Chinook salmon, sockeye salmon, Coho salmon, rainbow trout and pink salmon among the fish reported. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. On Calder Lake the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
August is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 16°C, while January sits near -7°C. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near early April. The water is typically free of ice between early April and late November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. The season on Calder Lake rarely departs from it.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. If the gate is shut, Mowich Lake at 4.3 km is the nearest alternative. Treat Calder Lake as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
