Solid cloud cover today, with a helpful ripple pushed from the NNW and the barometer holding steady. Start the search at Bedard Lake along the first drop-off and weed lines. A tough forecast; the morning offers the only real chance. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. A cold snap day, so work the warmest water you can find.

The Thompson-Nicola Regional District end of British Columbia holds Bedard Lake. It stands 1,533 metres above sea level. At about 19 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The whole outline is near 1.7 km, and most of it is walkable. By elevation it is in the upper part of our British Columbia listings. Ashcroft at 18 km is the nearest place to stop. It is 84 km to Kamloops, the nearest city. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Thompson-Nicola Regional District records list Chinook salmon, sockeye salmon, Coho salmon and rainbow trout among the fish reported. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. On Bedard Lake a short move beats a long cast.
Averages here run 14°C at the top of summer and -7°C at the bottom of winter. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near mid April. Climate figures give an open season running mid April to mid November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Time your trip to Bedard Lake by conditions rather than dates.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Bedard Aspen Provincial Park takes in this water; protected-area rules will apply. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Should this one be busy, Langley Lake is 3.5 km off. Nothing on Bedard Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
