Solid cloud cover today, with barely a breath of wind and pressure going nowhere. The productive water at Beaver Lake will be around the first drop-off and weed lines. A tough forecast; the night offers the only real chance. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Beaver Lake is one of the Metro Vancouver Regional District waters in British Columbia. The surface lies 15 metres up. About 4 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. It is low-lying compared with other British Columbia water we list. Coal Harbour at 1.9 km is the nearest place to stop. Vancouver is the closest city, 6 km away. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
We hold no depth figure for this one. Time trips to the tide table rather than the clock here. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Records held for Metro Vancouver Regional District cover white sturgeon, Coho salmon, sockeye salmon, rainbow trout and Chum salmon. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Work Beaver Lake in sections rather than trying to cover it.
The year swings from about 3°C in January to roughly 18°C in August. Winter is a mild inconvenience here, nothing more. The cooler months are the comfortable ones to be out. February into May fishes hardest as the water warms. Beaver Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Vancouver Rowing Club is 1 km from the water and covers boat needs. There is somewhere to leave the car, 370 m off. A pier or jetty stands 850 m away, which helps on a crowded bank. Mapping records toilets within 460 m. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. The nearest alternative is Capilano Lake, 7.4 km out. Ask locally about Beaver Lake if anything is unclear.
