Clear overhead with good moonlight, with light air out of the NE and steady pressure. Fish at Balagno Lake should hold close to inflow corners and shaded margins. The useful hours run afternoon into evening. Stay patient; middling days often turn late. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Set in North Coast Regional District, Balagno Lake is a British Columbia water. The country here is rolling hill. It covers about 3 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. Our North Coast Regional District list holds plenty of bigger water. Prince Rupert is the closest town at 18 km. Kitimat lies 96 km off, Terrace another 102 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Public occurrence data for North Coast Regional District names pink salmon, Coho salmon, Chum salmon, sockeye salmon and Chinook salmon. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Balagno Lake gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Expect August near 14°C and January near 0°C on the long-run figures. The year turns gently, without extremes at either end. Some winters give nothing at all, so plan for open water. April and May are the settled weeks, with October close behind. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Balagno Lake.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Some banks are open only from a marked point. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Fortune Lake at 0.6 km is the sensible second choice. For Balagno Lake in particular, ask before you travel.
