A sharp, clear morning turning into a bright day, with a soft ENE wind with the barometer flat. Assimilation Lake should fish best around shallow cover and weed edges today. Plan around the stretch from the day. Change depth before you change anything else. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Set in Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine, Assimilation Lake is a British Columbia water. The setting is mixed woodland on every side. Roughly 78 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The edge runs 4.0 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Start from Prince Rupert, 56 km down the road. Kitimat lies 59 km off, Terrace another 62 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
We hold no depth figure for this one. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Species logged across Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine include pink salmon, Chum salmon, Coho salmon and sockeye salmon. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Assimilation Lake gives up more to patience than to distance.
Climate normals give 13°C for August and -4°C for January. The year turns gently, without extremes at either end. Hard water here is never dependable, so check for yourself before stepping out. Spring and autumn carry the year; summer squeezes it into the ends of the day. The season on Assimilation Lake follows the weather closely.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Should this one be busy, Davis Lake is 14 km off. Treat access at Assimilation Lake as something to verify.
