Rain on and off through the day, with a soft SSW wind with a settled glass. Give points where shallow meets deep the first hour at Anchor Lake. A stay-home graph, with the evening as the one excuse to go. Scale down and fish slowly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

British Columbia holds Anchor Lake, in Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine. The ground around here is farm and woodlot. At roughly 10.65 sq km it ranks among the larger waters in the region. The shoreline runs to about 37 km, far more than one trip can cover. Size puts it in the front rank of our Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine list. The closest town, Bella Bella, is 109 km distant. For a city, Vancouver is 579 km off. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine records list pink salmon, Chum salmon, Coho salmon, sockeye salmon and Chinook salmon among the fish reported. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. At Anchor Lake the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
In an average year August sits at 14°C and January at 0°C. Mild ends to the year keep the season long. It is not guaranteed even in a cold spell, so check yourself. The hot months push the fishing to dawn and dusk. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Anchor Lake. Long dry spells drop the level and concentrate them.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. For a change of water, Cougar Lake is 7.7 km distant. Check the position on Anchor Lake before loading the car.
