A crisp, open sky after dark, with light air out of the NW with the barometer flat. Start the search at Agur Lake along the calm side of the wind. One clear peak today: the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen in British Columbia is where Agur Lake sits. It sits in mixed forest. This is a pocket water of some 5 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Summerland lies 12 km from the water. Kelowna is the closest city, 42 km away. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. County-wide records name sockeye salmon, rainbow trout, Coho salmon and common carp. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. On Agur Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Long-term averages put August at about 17°C and January near -6°C. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late March. Averages place the thaw at late March and the freeze at late November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. On Agur Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. A camping area sits within 80 m of here. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Brent Lake sits 10 km off and takes the overflow. Nothing on Agur Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
