Soft grey light all day today, with dead-still conditions and steady pressure. Give sheltered bays and points the first hour at Adsit Lake. Numbers are low everywhere; the middle of the day is the pick of them. Take the small wins and call it early if it dies. Cold hands, careful casts: precision is everything today.

Adsit Lake lies in Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine, British Columbia. The water sits 1,157 metres up. Roughly 77 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. Watson Lake sits 166 km from here and is the nearest stop. Then Juneau, 237 km, and Petersburg, 272 km. Within easy reach: Porcupine Lake 7.6 km away, Martin Lake some 14 km off, Hankin Lake 20 km away, Tuya Lake some 23 km off and Killarney Lake 24 km away. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. County-wide records name pink salmon, Chum salmon, Coho salmon, sockeye salmon and Chinook salmon. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. The shape of Adsit Lake decides where the fish sit.
Average temperature peaks around 10°C in July and bottoms out near -15°C in January. Cold dominates the year and the fishing works around it. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from mid May. Ice clears near mid May and comes back about late October in a typical year. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Adsit Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Porcupine Lake, 7.6 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the position on Adsit Lake before loading the car.
