A closed sky with even light today, with a whisper of wind from the SE with a settled glass. Expect most activity at Treasure Loch around points where shallow meets deep. Bank on the middle of the day and treat the rest as bonus. Give the likely spots time before moving. Cold air keeps the water sluggish; scale everything down.

Treasure Loch is one of the Improvement District No. 24 waters in Alberta. The bank is 310 metres above sea level. This is sizeable water at about 2.57 sq km, and a boat opens up most of it. The edge covers about 21 km, enough to hold several distinct areas. Fort Smith sits 82 km from here and is the nearest stop. Edmonton sits 734 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Survey and observation records for Improvement District No. 24 include goldeye, northern pike, walleye, cisco and Iowa darter. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Treasure Loch responds to conditions more than to tactics.
The year swings from about -25°C in January to roughly 16°C in July. Long winters and short summers set the pattern. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around mid May. The season between ice runs from about mid May to late October. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Plan any trip to Treasure Loch around it.
Access status is simply unknown for this water. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. For a change of water, Selwyn Lake is 5.4 km distant. Check the current arrangement for Treasure Loch.
