Stars out and no cloud tonight, with a light chop building from the SW and pressure sitting still. Whatever swims in Eagle Lake should be near the weed line and any gaps in it. A tough forecast; the middle of the day offers the only real chance. Keep baits small and presentations quiet.

Eagle Lake sits within Improvement District No. 24 in Alberta. The surroundings are northern bush. About 1.60 sq km, so local knowledge or a boat saves a lot of walking. Some 10 km of bank gives room to move when the wind turns. Supplies mean a trip to Fort Smith, 87 km off. Beyond it, Hay River at 319 km and Fort McMurray at 350 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Records held for Improvement District No. 24 cover goldeye, northern pike and walleye. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Anyone new to Eagle Lake should walk it once before setting up.
Typical July readings run about 16°C; by January the average is down near -24°C. Cold dominates the calendar on water this far north. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near mid May. Average temperatures cross freezing around mid May in spring and again near late October in autumn. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Eagle Lake.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. One Week Lake, 5.4 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the current arrangement for Eagle Lake.
