Soft grey light all day today, with air barely moving and no real change in pressure. Give the first drop-off and weed lines the first hour at North Scarpe Lake. A broad window opens from morning through afternoon. Commit to the pattern once the first fish shows. A cold snap day, so work the warmest water you can find.

North Scarpe Lake is a Municipal District of Pincher Creek No. 9 water, Alberta side. The setting is rolling bush on every side. It covers about 3 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. For supplies, Pincher Creek is 38 km out. Blairmore is 42 km away, with Coleman at 47 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth figures are not published for this one. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Species logged across Municipal District of Pincher Creek No. 9 include rainbow trout, white sucker, Iowa darter and bull trout. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. At North Scarpe Lake the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Climate records put August near 12°C and January near -10°C. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. Ice-out usually falls in mid May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Averages suggest open water from about mid May through to roughly early November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Expect North Scarpe Lake to follow that timing.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Failing this one, try Lys Lake, 1.5 km away. None of that is settled for North Scarpe Lake in what we hold.
