A bright day with hardly any cloud, with light air out of the SE with the glass holding level. Start the search at Islet Lake along reed fringes and open pockets. The day holds up well from the day. Work the productive water thoroughly. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

In Alberta, Islet Lake falls inside Strathcona County. The water sits 743 metres up. The water covers around 1.20 sq km, which puts most of it out of reach from the bank. The shoreline runs about 9.9 km, so it pays to pick a stretch and stay with it. Tofield lies 15 km from the water. The big place round here is Edmonton, 43 km distant. A county line runs close by, so local bylaws can differ within a short drive.
We hold no depth figure for this one. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Strathcona County records list northern pike, yellow perch, cisco, rainbow trout and white sucker among the fish reported. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. On Islet Lake the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
July runs about 16°C on average, January about -14°C. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from late April. The water is typically free of ice between late April and mid November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. On Islet Lake that shapes the whole year.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Recorded parking is 670 m off, far enough to travel light. Public toilets are recorded roughly 630 m off. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Wanisan Lake, 5.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. For Islet Lake, the notice at the access point is the final word.
