Showers crossing the water today, with steady pressure of wind from the WSW and no real change in pressure. Whatever swims in Kangaroo Lake should be near reed fringes and open pockets. The day holds up well from afternoon into evening. Work the productive water thoroughly. The spring warm-up puts fish on the sunny banks.

Night
Out in Central Darling, New South Wales, sits Kangaroo Lake. The setting is open dry country. About 6.07 sq km, so local knowledge or a boat saves a lot of walking. Shoreline length is close to 7.9 km, and each section fishes a little differently. Broken Hill is the closest place, 100 km off. Beyond it, Wentworth at 168 km and Buronga at 173 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Read Kangaroo Lake before you fish it and the day goes better. Where reeds break, there is usually a route in for fish.
Between July at about 11°C and January at about 26°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Warmth runs the whole year, so timing is about the hour, not the month. Spring runs September to November and autumn March to May, and both fish well. March through May and September through November are the strong stretches. Time your trip to Kangaroo Lake by conditions rather than dates.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping flags this water as intermittent: it can be dry for part of the year, so check before travelling. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Should this one be busy, Bobs Lake is 9.3 km off. Nothing here settles the position at Kangaroo Lake for certain.
