Bright, clear skies over the water today, with a helpful ripple pushed from the ENE with the glass holding level. Activity on Croppers Lagoon should centre on seams where the tide bends around structure. The productive run goes the day. Start on the obvious water and expand from there. Fish are pushing shallow as the water warms.

Out in Federation, New South Wales, sits Croppers Lagoon. Everything around it is open plain. With some 66 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. On size it sits at the modest end of our Federation list. Corowa lies 4.6 km from the water. The big place round here is Bendigo, 202 km distant. Local rules may differ a few miles either side of here.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Nearby survey and observation records mention Murray cod, golden perch and common carp. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Read Croppers Lagoon for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Expect February near 24°C and July near 8°C on the long-run figures. No part of the year shuts this water. Summer, December to February, brings heat, so fish the early and late hours. October and November fish well as the water warms. It holds true on Croppers Lagoon more years than not.
Our records carry no access rule either way. It is recorded as an oxbow, which means still water with a river's shape. No made access is recorded, so a short walk in is the likely arrangement. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Sort the permit out before you load the car. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Failing this one, try Lake Moodemere, 6.1 km away. For Croppers Lagoon, the notice at the access point is the final word.
