Blue sky from bank to bank today, with a stiffish breeze from the WSW and pressure easing off. Expect most activity at Raid Lake around the shaded margin through bright spells. The day holds up well from night into morning. Work the productive water thoroughly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Raid Lake falls in Sublette County, part of Wyoming. Everything around it is pine and birch. With some 115 acres of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Around 2.2 miles of margin, front to back. Few waters listed in Sublette County are bigger. Pinedale lies 23 miles from the water. Fort Washakie is 28 miles away, with Lander at 34 miles. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Records held for Sublette County cover brook trout, rainbow trout and brown trout. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Raid Lake fishes better once you know its edges.
Temperature averages peak at 49°F in July and bottom out at 12°F in January. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from mid June. The lid tends to go about mid June and return around early November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Expect Raid Lake to follow that timing.
Access is not recorded for this water. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Failing this one, try South Fork Lake, 0.7 miles away. For Raid Lake in particular, ask before you travel.
