Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with a gentle ripple from the NW and pressure leaking away. Fish at Glacier Lake should hold close to the shaded margin through bright spells. A broad window opens from night into morning. Commit to the pattern once the first fish shows. The cold puts a premium on the calmest, deepest water.

You will find Glacier Lake in Big Horn County, Wyoming. It lies 11,496 feet above sea level. Around 53 acres of surface means several distinct areas to work. The full circuit measures close to 1.4 miles on foot. On our Big Horn County list it sits near the top for size. Buffalo sits 23 miles from here and is the nearest stop. The big place round here is Billings, 117 miles distant. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. County-wide records name brook trout, rainbow trout, brown trout and white sucker. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Fish Glacier Lake to its features, not to its size.
Between January at about 13°F and August at about 48°F, the water has a wide range to work through. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Count the season from break-up, usually mid June. On average, mid June opens the water and late October closes it again. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. That shapes the year on Glacier Lake.
Public data does not answer the access question here. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Sapphire Lake, 0.6 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. Where Glacier Lake is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
