Flat light and a covered sky today, with a whisper of wind from the NW with pressure dropping. Activity on Beaver Lakes should centre on points where shallow meets deep. The best of it runs night into morning. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Wyoming holds Beaver Lakes, in Johnson County. It sits at 8,829 feet above sea level. At 5 acres it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. Our Johnson County list holds plenty of bigger water. The nearest town is Buffalo, 21 miles away. Further out sit Sheridan (25 miles) and Basin (47 miles). No border sits close enough to matter.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Johnson County records list brown trout, rainbow trout and brook trout among the fish reported. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. Fish Beaver Lakes to its features, not to its size.
Between January at about 15°F and July at about 51°F, the water has a wide range to work through. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Winter locks it down, and early June brings it back. Ice usually gives way near early June, and forms again about early November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Anyone fishing Beaver Lakes regularly works to that calendar.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Kearny Lake Reservoir, 1.6 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. Ask locally about Beaver Lakes if anything is unclear.
