Not a cloud worth mentioning today, with a useful SSW wind pushing food about with the barometer flat. Activity on Twin Lake should centre on bays that hold the day's warmth. The forecast backs the stretch from the day. Ride the conditions while they last. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

This water sits in Iron County, Wisconsin. What surrounds it is mixed forest. It covers about 8 acres, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. Our Iron County list holds plenty of bigger water. The closest town, Hurley, is 14 miles distant. After that come Ironwood at 14 miles and Bessemer at 19 miles. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Open biodiversity records for Iron County list walleye, northern pike and yellow perch. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. On Twin Lake that means starting tight and working out.
Averages here run 65°F at the top of summer and 10°F at the bottom of winter. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly mid April. The season between ice runs from about mid April to late November. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Twin Lake.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Island Lake Hemlocks State Natural Area covers this ground, which means extra rules to check. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. The nearest alternative is Sack Lake, 0.3 miles out. Nothing on Twin Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
