Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with mild air moving in from the S with the glass slipping lower. Most of the action on Tony Lake should come off bays that hold the day's warmth. Save your energy for the morning. Stay mobile and follow the activity. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

You will find Tony Lake in Washburn County, Wisconsin. What surrounds it is pine and birch. At 15 acres it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. On size it sits at the modest end of our Washburn County list. Supplies mean a trip to Spooner, 1.1 miles off. For a city, Saint Paul is 84 miles off. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. County-wide records name largemouth bass, bluegill and northern pike. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. On Tony Lake the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
On the long-term average, July reads 69°F and January reads 9°F. The year runs cold to warm and back, with clear transitions. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly mid April. From about mid April to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Tony Lake runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. The car has to stay half a mile away, which shapes how much tackle you bring. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. If the gate is shut, Randall Lake at 1.5 miles is the nearest alternative. Rules at Tony Lake are worth checking on the day.
